Our Hibernation services
As a tortoise keeper, one of the scariest parts is the hibernation!
As of 2025, we are able to alleviate that fear! We can offer a range of options to suit you and your tortoise!
Simple box hibernation
This is the most basic option for hibernation. You, the owner, prep the tortoise(s), cooling and fasting them prior to hibernation. These are then brought to us, or collected using our collection service, and put straight into our hibernation unit. Following their peaceful sleep, they will be returned to you ready to be woken up!
Extended hibernation
We will have limited capacity to help with the preparations for hibernation and the wake up the other side! The tortoises are brought to us 4 weeks prior to hibernation, where they are kept in our purpose built cooling room. They are health checked on arrival, and a worm count can be performed on the owners request to check for any abnormalities. Following a few more meals, we then begin the fasting process, and will prep them for their long winter sleep!
In Spring, we are able to help their gentle wake up, and ensure their appetites are back to normal before their return!
